Important Changes to User Authentication on FreeMcServer.net – Twitter Login Removed

News / Updates

Dear FreeMcServer.net Community,

We have some important updates to share about how you access our platform.

Effective immediately, we have discontinued support for ‘Login with Twitter’ as an authentication method on FreeMcServer.net. This decision comes in the wake of a series of unfortunate events and in response to changes happening at Twitter, particularly since its acquisition by Elon Musk.

It is no secret that Twitter’s developer environment has undergone significant alterations in the recent past. We have observed a decline in the quality of their development tools, resulting in numerous complications that have increasingly affected our user experience. While we have always strived to provide the best for our users, these changes have regrettably hindered our ability to do so.

The catalyst for our decision to remove Twitter integration was the sudden suspension of our OAuth access due to an alleged “Terms of Service Violation.” Despite our best efforts, we have not received clarification on the nature of this violation from Twitter. It is worth noting that the only request we’ve ever made against the Twitter API was for OAuth login requests, making this situation all the more perplexing.

Given these circumstances, we can’t help but question if this is an inadvertent misstep on Twitter’s part or an intentional push towards their considerably expensive API access—a cost that is not justifiable for our operations.

We understand that this change may impact users who have relied on ‘Login with Twitter’ as their primary method of accessing our platform. Rest assured, transitioning your account is simple. If ‘Login with Twitter’ was your only source of authentication, you can request a password reset using the same email associated with your Twitter account. You will then receive a new password which can be used to access FreeMcServer.net.

We have also removed Twitter linking as a verification requirement. We are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for all users and are here to support you through the process.

We want to assure you that these changes aim to enhance the stability and reliability of FreeMcServer.net. Our priority remains to offer you the best free Minecraft server hosting service, while ensuring a seamless and secure experience.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to continuing to serve you.

Sincerely,

The FreeMcServer.net Team
